San Francisco Peaks, highest in the Southwest, reach an altitude of 13,000 ft., and their majestic summits, snow-capped eight months of the year, may be seen from the Painted Desert, 120 miles to the east; Prescott, 103 miles south, and from the vicinity of Kingman, more than 100 miles to the west. Excellent ski-runs near the top are reached via motor road from Flagstaff, and in the summer time this is a popular scenic tourist's objective.
