16. General Washington's Bed-Room, Mount Vernon, VA
Here Washington died (December 14, 1799). Every piece of furniture here was used by the General. His military trunk, or coach chest bears his initials and the date 1775 and the bureau washstand and mirror were also used during his campaign. The old arm chair mahogany table and shaving stand, like the bed upon which he died are eloquent reminders of the dead hero.
