Cliff House

Dublin Core

Title

Cliff House

Description

This postcard shows an image of the world famous Cliff House and Seal Rock. The photo displays many colors, including the blue ocean, green trees and grass, and red, brown, gray and white buildings. The photograph appears to have been taken from a very high point, facing down at the buildings. Viewer's can read "Dining," and "Cliff House," on two small red buildings on the left of the image. There is also a long curvy road or highway in the center-left of the image with a few different cars on it. The cars are old, so it is clear that this postcard is from a few decades ago.
This card depicts an aerial view of the world famous Cliff House and Sea Rock located in San Francisco, California. The image includes very vivid colors. The coast, with crashing waves against the rocks are also shown. A road winds around a large area of trees, and along the curve lies the Cliff House. Cars are parked out front. Next to the Cliff House is a large estate--possibly an important building.

Archivist's Comment

There is a small black-and-white, sketched image on the top left of the back of the postcard. The sketch is of a tall building, four boats in a marina, a train, people walking, and a bridge. None of these are completely shown but are sketched by sections to form one long sketch showing all.

There is no signature from the original archivist.
