HOPI KACHINA DOLL
These colorful and grotesque little dolls, fashioned from driftwood and colored with vegetable dyes by the Hopi Indians, are replicas of legendary spirits believed to help the Hopi and protect him against misfortune. There are hundreds of such creatures, each with its own costume and personality portrayed at certain seasons of the year by the spirited Hopi dancers.
