Douglas DC-3

The Douglas DC-3 has been said to be "perhaps the most important airliner in history" due to its versatility, reliability, and effectiveness in not only the commercial airline industry, but the military as well. The postcard pictured here gives us a forward facing airplane, suggesting movement away from the past towards the "future of aviation," so to speak. The open, blue sky and soft, white clouds suggest calm, serene, comfort that the plane may provide. The fact that the plane is not tilted upward or downward, but in a normal "cruising" orientation suggest that the plane is also quite effective at its main job: traveling safely from point A to B.
